Forest Hill Quakers Anti-Racism Statement:
“The Quaker testimony to equality asserts that all human beings are equal. We strongly oppose racism and all forms of discrimination. Quakers have not always lived up to our ideals, and we sometimes fail now, but it is what we hold to be true”  Read our full anti-racism declaration
Forest Hill Quaker Community - Who are we
We are a community of around 90 people and about half that number are likely to be at Meeting any Sunday from 10.30 to 11.15.  Newcomers are warmly welcomed - both in person & on Zoom whether you are just visiting or maybe thinking of a longer stay.

We are open to many ways of life and thought and are willing to learn from all other faiths and churches and from each other. We are less concerned with what we believe than with how we live our lives, care for each other and follow our testimonies of peace, equality, integrity, community and simplicity, guided by the Light that is in us all.

When and where do we meet?

Sunday Meeting for Worship  is held at 10:30 am every Sunday in person and on Zoom

Children's Meeting is held every Sunday at the same time  There are many other activities as well, Click for more

Midweek Meeting  is every Tuesday, just on Zoom.

What Happens at a Meeting?

Picture
Our Meetings are based on silence – a shared silence of waiting and listening.
Sit quietly in silence or you may find it helpful to read one of the leaflets you may have been given. There may be silence for quite some time. We seek a communal gathered stillness where we can be open to inspiration. One or more people during the meeting may feel moved to 'minister'. These are not special people, at least no more special than anyone else, and if you feel moved to speak your contribution will be just as welcome as anyone else's.

What do we believe?

  • There is something sacred in all people
  • All people are equal before God
  • Religion is about the whole of life
  • We meet in stillness to discover a sense of God’s presence
  • True religion leads to respect for this Earth and all life upon it
  • Each person is unique, precious, a child of God
